Fully operational since February 2025, this wind farm replaces 90% of the electricity purchased from third-parties in Argentina, resulting in a reduction of 111 thousand tons of CO2 emissions annually. With an investment of, approximately, $225 million and an installed nominal power capacity of 99 megawatts, this project advances the company’s disclosed decarbonization roadmap. The project is composed of 22 wind turbines and an annual production of 480 GWh.
“Increasing the share of renewable energy in our total energy consumption is an important part of our decarbonization plan to support a sustainable operation and low carbon economy,” said Ternium’s CEO Máximo Vedoya. “We are proud to contribute to the sustainability of Argentina’s energy matrix through our first renewable energy facility.”
As disclosed in Ternium's Sustainabilty Report 2023, Ternium is working to achieve a 15% reduction in scope 1, 2 and 3 (categroy 1 and 10) emissions intensity by 2030, compared to the company’s 2023 base rate.
